Project La Cienega Park and Recreation Complex Master Plan CIP Project #00343

Project Execution for Public Engagement  The City  hired an independent consultant through a Request for Qualifications to conduct a comprehensive public engagement approach to collect input from residents about amenities and activities at the Complex.  The consultant, Consensus and Collaboration Program (CCP), was recommended by the Recreation and Parks Commission and City Council Liaisons.  CCP, with the collaboration of the Community Services Department and the Public Works Department, used a comprehensive public engagement approach to collect input about La Cienega Park and Recreation Complex.

Public Engagement Project Cost: $147,517
The La Cienega Park & Recreation Complex Public Engagement Project is part of the Capital Improvement Project budget, CIP #00343, specifically for improving the parks and recreation facilities at La Cienega Park & Recreation Complex.  The Public Engagement Project is funded using monies from the Parks and Recreation Facilities Fund (Fund 160).

Description The City reached out to the community in various ways, to understand what amenities and activities are desirable in the future at La Cienega Park and Recreation Complex.  This public engagement project sought feedback and ideas from current park and facility users, stakeholder groups and residents over a six month period through focus groups, a community survey, interviews, community presentations and outreach to service clubs, sports groups and others, and welcomed feedback at Town Hall meetings where community input was encouraged.

Public Engagement Project Schedule Public outreach and input was collected beginning in July, 2018 through February of 2019, at the 3rd Town Hall meeting.   Input and ideas were shared with the community and the Beverly Hills City Council in late October, 2018. In December, preliminary option for redevelopment of La Cienega Park & Recreation complex were presented to City Council.  Additional meetings and Town Hall were set up to get more input about the preliminary options presented.  Input and feedback was presented to City Council on April 2. Direction was to get conceptual designs based on community input.   Proposed conceptual design for fields, pedestrian bridge, and recreation complex are being presented to Recreation and Parks Council Liaison, Recreation and Parks Commission and City Council.

Conceptual Design Phase
